I posted last week about whether we should move back to the UK earlier than planned to guarantee a place for dd1 at our very popular local primary school, or risk a place coming up for her in year 1.
At the time, until it was pointed out to me by prh47bridge and confirmed by others, I did not realise that we had a "third way" - which was for her to start in January.
We have now had it confirmed by the school and LEA that she is able to do this, buying us the extra time that we needed, so I have been able to accept the place.
Thank you so much for your advice, it has been incredibly helpful. I am very happy that she will be going to that school.
Just watch out for posts from me now about what to expect from the UK school system as she is currently at a (very good) Montesorri pre-school in the Caribbean, and will start at their reception before we go home. I am hoping the transition will be an easy one but I also fear that a busy, noisy, playful UK reception class might come as quite a shock after the quiet, peaceful, studious classes she is used to here!
