my dd did the 4+ assessments last year and got in(she just started 2 weeks ago)...I assume 5+ assessments would include things like being able to read, write neatly,a story may be read to her and comprehension tested.Did you sit the 4+?Just to let you know its easier to get in at 5+ than 4+...less people tend to apply....Good Luck

We sat our dd for the 5+.

Not sure what went on there as parents weren't allowed in. The first time a few girls were called into play somewhere and they were assessed as they played with adults chatting to them and asking questons

Second time we were alone and dd was taken by the teacher while I 'chatted' to the head. I think the 'chat' was really an interview.

Anyway, dd didn't get accepted. She's extremely smart (not just me saying that but teachers and other independent adults!!) but a bit quirky and I'm not sure her quirkiness went down to well (or I failed my interview!).

I think if you have a conventionally clever child (i.e. into more formal learning) than you have a better chance, and from what I've read about Habs, a child who'll fit in better.

I have my eye on NLCS......

Thanks for all your advice/comments, sorry i am just getting round to reading this as i had to go away for a couple of days. My son got into habs boys at 5+ Four years ago but i hear assesments for both schools are done differently.
