Laces at year 3?

DD starts a new school in September whose uniform policy (I have just noticed) states laced shoes! Just bought velcro ones before I noticed & I don't think DD has a hope of being able to do laces herself anyway.
What to do? Swap them for laces & hope she learns to do them quick, or stick with what we have and hope they understand? After all she is an August baby!
Don't know anyone at the school we can ask until first day back!

get her practising - it doesn't take long once they get the hang of it, even though both you and they will feel it's never going to happen at first!

if she's really struggling by September, get her elastic laces - triathletes use them - and she won't need to worry

in the days before velcro 5 year olds had to know how to tie their laces so a 7 year old should be able to, unless there are any motor skills problems of course

They're elastic and coiled like old fashioned telephone wire. They stretch to put the shoe on then spring back to keep it tight.

It is pretty unusual for girls and may be that in previous years it has been velcro only so they are now allowed laces rather than must have iyswim. ds has Lock Laces to enable him to have lace ups but still has velcro for school at 11, as does dd almost 8.
