Dd got 5's for English and Science and 4 for Maths (her weak subject). But according to her teacher the SATS were easy .

Tbh I can't remember what she got for KS1 Sats - 2a's maybe.

DD yr6 got all 5's for yr6 SATS and 3's for yr2 except writing which was 2a

DS got 5a science and 5b maths and reading and just scraped a 4 by one point for writing (Dyslexic problems).

for y2 I think he got the same as DD except he may have got a 2a for reading and a 2 for writing.

If 2b is average in Yr2, then surely most children should be borderline for getting 5s in Yr6, right? Coz it would work out End of

Assuming they move 2 sublevels/yr.
But my guess is that the yr2 scores will be all over the shop compared to the Level 5 results. Because kids aren't automotans, they have spurts and plateaus, right?

DS1 has just got all 5s in Y6.

In Y2 he got 3s for Reading and Science, 2as for Writing and Maths and 2 (no sub-level) for Speaking and Listening.

They don't move two sublevels a year in KS2 - they move 1.5 sub levels a year. In reality they should have two years of moving two sub levels, and two years of moving 1 sub level. So they move 6 sub levels a year.

So for e.g.
yr 2 - 2b
yr 3 - 3c (2 sub levels)
yr 4 - 3b (1)
yr 5 - 4c (2)
yr 6 - 4b (1)

I'm not particularly bothered by it - about two-thirds of DS's year group got Level 5s in at least one subject.

Oooohhh no idea what any of this means but want to boast as DD is at 4b and 4a and she is only in year 4!

It should be one level every 2 yrs surely? That is what we were told in a very detailed debrief at a governors meeting.

So if you got 2b in Yr2 you should get 3b in Yr 4 and 4b in Yr 6.

These are of course averages. Children don't necessarily have steady growth. However, DS1 in Yr 4 has moved his one level in every subject since Yr 2 SATS so that just goes to prove this must be right.

It is one level over 2 years, as Niecie says, and they are supposed to be graded as high/secure/low level 2, 3 or whatever now, not A, B, or C.

Fingers crossed that there is a boycott next year, or they do them when they get to secondary school instead - that would stop all the cheating done in many some schools because of the government....

the target is 2 levels in the 4 years of KS2 - so if you leave yr 2 at 2b, then you should get yr 6 4b, and if you get a 3 in yr2 then you should get a 5 in year 6 (all other things being equal).

Crikey, U hear such different things in different places. DD's Yr1 teacher predicted that she would be Level 1a by the end of the yr "Well above average", they said that would be.

Accordinging to a recent workshop our head gave on tracking data, apparently they use the results at end of YR to predict grades right through to GCSE ! Something to do with ability to access the curriculum - if you are doing well at the end of Yr R then you are likely to do well all the way through.

The primary levels are supposed to be KS1 - a full level each year, and KS2 - two full levels over the 4 years.

End of KS3 (what age is that ?!) is supposed to be level 5.5 (no idea how that fits with a,b and c)

we didn't get them differentiated into a, b and c.

ds is dyslexic. He got 5 in maths and science and reading, a 4 in litracy and a 3 in writing. He had a scribe. I don't give a fuck, but it was nice for HIm to see he is considered bright as he has suffered from terrible low self esteem because of his writing and speling issues and some fo the girls caling him stupid and thicko etc.

Our outgoing Head is confident that Yr6 SATs will be replaced with Yr7 CATs, probably by 2011 she said.

Oh, I guess I (now) know that it's supposed to be 2 full levels/2 yrs, but I'm curious what Real World Experience has been, iyswim.

Also, no one boasting this yr about their DC's Yr2 results, I wondered if they've all gone to Moldies or their DC are now in Yr6 ! .

Will/have the CAT tests changed though?

DD did very well at Yr 6 SATS (years ago - she is now 18) but decidly average at Yr7 CATS which are all like the 11+ tests , verbal reasoning etc.

DD did her CAT tests on Friday, I think they were NVR, VR and Quantative.

DS1, about 4 years ago, got all 5s, and he got threes I think in Yr 2.

DS2, last year, got 5, 5, and 4 (literacy) and got 2, 2, and 1 in Yr 2.

DS3, got all 5s, and I think he got 2a's in Yr 2.
