need similar level books to ORT stage 7/8?

DS2 is currently reading at Stage 7 ORT. He struggles with reading but has made reasonable progression with ORT. My concern is that he finds it very hard to read anything outside this particular scheme and I was thinking of getting him some other books to read over the summer to break the ORT habit! Does anyone know of equivalent level books that I could order from Amazon/WH Smiths etc?

I would recommend that you have a look in the library. I found a book there which the dcs loved and it turned out that it was part of a whole series called Walker Books, which were actually on special offer on the Red Books website so I ordered the set.

second the library idea - they're doing a reading scheme again this year ("Quest" or something like that!)

DS (5) currently read the Ginn 360 books and is on level 5. On his book list apart from the Ginn scheme which is obviously school's chosen one, they list some ORT Stage 7 books so they must be about the same standard and am pretty sure you can get them through AMazon.

The "I am reading" scheme is around that level - my kids loved them. Also Blue Bananas, Usbourne Readers, Seriously Silly Stories and Happy Families...basically get yourself down to the library and have a nose, there's lots to choose from!
