best school bag and PE bag for reception?

Are you sure the school doesn't sell them? I've never seen primary children with book bags other than those provided by the school.

As for PE, any drawstring bag will do.

do they just need a book bag? What about a water bottle etc? School may sell but won't know til next week

yes, they usually just need a book bag and a PE bag. Water bottles are provided free at our school - your school may well do the same. I'd wait. Or ring the secretary? There'll be someone in a day or two before the children go back.

when you take your dc ask at the office they usually have stuff in stock i paid £1 for bottle about 2.50 each for book and pe bags

You can buy drawstring bags for about £1 at Woolies. The school should sell the bookbag.
