Hello, I'm looking for a prep school for my DD and I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the interview process? Will my husband an I be interviewed or just our DD? How long does it usually take? Did your child find it stressful? Thanks

It was very relaxed at my daughter's school. After we had had a tour of the school and chat with the headmaster, she was asked to come and spend about 40 minutes in the pre-school class, without us there. I don't think that would be possible at the moment because of coronavirus.

Hi @Best87
Its usually very relaxed at Reception age. Its only at Year Two, when they start to take the 7+ when it becomes more intense.
Good luck :)

How old she is and where you are looking will factor in. If it's an interview for pre-prep level, so Yr R-2 and you're not in the craziness of London, then they'll probably just chat to them and you. Yr 3+ upwards (again outside London) there may be some simple written assessments and some time spent with the class. If you're going for the selective oversubscribed preps of London then it could be anything but would still vary. I'd suggest posting with the names of the schools if so and getting some current parents to let you know their recent experiences. Or do a search. Many of the really popular ones have multiple threads on MN that can be useful for reference.
