Won ICS appeal but can't get hold of the school, WWYD?

OK, as some of you might remember reading, I won an infant class size appeal last week. The letter from the council advised me to contact the school directly to make arrangements for my child to join.
Couldn't get through on the phone, so emailed the school on 13th August and attached a copy of the letter explaining I'd won (just in case the council hadn't already notified them).
I got an out of office reply from the school, saying no staff are there in the holiday period but emails are checked "regularly".
No reply as yet and my son is due to start at the school on Thursday!
Do I just "turn up" with him and a copy of the letter?
Trouble is, for the induction, the Reception children are split into 4 different little groups for the first few days so I have no idea which group my son will be in.
It's all so "last minute" and rushed, I don't like being this disorganised!
Anybody else in this situation? WWYD?

I would buy the uniform and expect a reply in the early part of next week. You can fill out any forms via their web site and return them. They might have a lot of info you need already posted.

The school will almost certainly have staff around from Monday and they will also have staff training days before term starts. I would ring and leave further messages on Monday.

Depending on where you are, it's a Bank Holiday on Monday. There will almost certainly be staff around on the Tuesday though so I would phone then to see what they advise.

Does it not say on their website if they are having an INSET day on Tuesday? Nearly all, schools take an INSET on the first day of the year.

I wouldn't panic. Get the uniform, gather any information you can from the website or other parents and try to contact them on Tuesday.

Can you find an email address for the headteacher directly? Our headteacher is responding to emails whereas admin staff aren't at work until Tuesday

You could also try emailing the School Business Manager - many of them work longer hours than admin staff. His/her email address should be on the school website.

We had this for secondary, DD had to choose her GCSE subjects based on what was left the day before she started! They were in two days before the start of term and we got to speak to them the afternoon of the second day. It was a bit of a surprise no one at all could deal with it in the month before this after we won the appeal, DD had previously left because of bullying and she was very anxious, but they were quick at getting her sorted once we had spoken to them.
