How to finalise a house without visiting

Dears, we are currently abroad and planning to move to UK in July this year.
My daughter will go to JAGS and I am now looking for a house to move in. But I don't know the city well and I am finding it difficult to put an offer on the house without visiting them. But considering the lockdown in my country, I can not visit before mid or end June.
So is there a website which tells about the crime rate of an area and how secure is it for families? Currently I like the house in water mews, Nunhead. If somebody has the experience of that area, it would be really helpful. Thanks a lot.

I don't know that specific area, but you can get basic statistics from www.findahood.com/ if you put in the postcode. also look on the website of the local borough council to find out what residents' major concerns are.

Do you know London at all?

Southwark is one of the most deprived areas in the UK and the crime rates may not look that great on paper.

I lived there for many years (not Nunhead though) and my DD is at school in Southwark. I think it's a great area and have never felt unsafe, but it's not like some of the more leafy boroughs in West London.

I'm not sure I'd recommend that anyone buy there if they haven't visited the area in person.

This link will show you crime in the vicinity of the street you mentioned: www.streetlist.co.uk/se/se15/se15-3/water-mews

Thanks a lot for replying. I forgot to mention that I am currently looking for a rented house and not to buy.

So if you tell us your budget, distance from JAGS, how many bedrooms and where you may need to commute to, we can send you ideas? MN loves a Rightmove challenge Smile

Google earth is your friend once you find a specific property you like - you can see the surrounding area and any surprises the estate agent forgot to mention - backs onto a car lot/ railway line etc also it can help get a sense of the area - green spaces etc.

As @getdownonit says...gives us some details and I’m sure the mountain knowledge of MN will get to work .
Bit like an relocation agency without the fee 😀

Hi - I just sent you a private message. Our family house, which we are renting out, is very close to JAGS, within walking distance in East Dulwich.
