Pull up trousers

Have a late August boy. He's 4 10 days before starting school , have tried his uniform on and he's having a meltdown!!
He's used to wearing track bottoms for nursery, doesn't entertain jeans or chino type trousers anytime!
Managed to blackmail him into wearing the trousers but he has no chance of going to the toilet independently in them. Anyone got a recommendation for pull up type trousers to help??

I don't think my son ever undone the buttons on his school trousers when he first started. We have the flat fronted ones from George @asda. They have the adjustable waists so elasticated. He just pulls them up and down.

The normal next school trousers I got my DS have a partially elasticated waist and he can get them down and up without undoing the button.

My son also ignores buttons in trousers (similar supermarket ones with a bit of elastic to adjust) and just pulls them down and not quite up again.

M&S trousers up to age 7 were pull on elasticated when I bought them a couple of years ago.

We had flat front semi elasticated trousers until about size 6-7 - mainly Nutmeg, M&S, Next etc. They honestly behave like joggers (etc) for the purposes of toileting.

It depends on the school uniform rules of course, but my DS2 wore joggers all the way through primary school - principally because he cycled to school and the elastic around the ankle kept them from getting tangled in the bike chain. They were just cotton jersey joggers, kindof sweatshirt-type material, black. Usually got them from M&S or Asda.

Do you need something that look like "uniform" trousers but have no fly? John Lewis seem to do something suitable here

Thanks for the help! It's grey trousers we need (any shade) he has a bit of a pot belly so was struggling to get them back up fully, will try to keep practising for the next 2 weeks!

Sainsburys ones are elasticated with no button and come in small sizes. Got age 3 for my little august born!

We have Sainsburys and m&s trousers and shorts and they're all elasticated and flat fronted.

We got a size or two larger to make them easier to pull up and down and turned up the bottoms to the right length.

The £2.50/£3 Asda school trousers are elasticated waist only. Due to motor issues my son (in year one this year) doesn't find buttons easy so we only buy the elasticated waists.

My son started school last year, I had the same worry! The Marks and Spencers ones have adjustable waist and no zip or buttons to undo. Sainsbury's also had some, but I did find these shrunk really quickly whereas the Marks ones did last the whole year

Recommend Sainsbury's. Smart trousers but no buttons/zips and our comfy trouser only boy wore them with no issues

I have found great pull up trousers with no buttons or fastenings in both Asda and Matalan. MN told me where to look.

How tall is your boy OP? I only ask because Asda sizes are quite big. I tried the 3-4 years on DS2 who is on the chunkier side and a bit older than your DS and they completely drowned him both length and width ways. I am going to try the age 3 Matalan ones to see if they fit better.

How tall is your DS OP? Asda sizes seem to be quite big. I tried the age 3-4 on DS2 who is on the chunkier side and a little older than your DS and they were far too big both length and width wise.

I am going to check out the Matalan age 3 ones to see if they fit a bit better.

We had pull downs from M&S for the first few months until ds insisted on a zip because none of the other boys pulled their trousers/pants down when using the school urinals. We had to practise undoing and doing up loads before he wore them into school (he practiced the logistics of peeing with trousers undone but still up himself).

Thanks I've ordered the matalan ones and hopefully I can persuade bribe him to wear them. Currently having palpitations at trying to get him in his uniform on the first day. I'll have to start dressing him about 6 to get through the tears before school starts!

The matalan ones were great for us. Good luck! Maybe let him wear his uniform in a few non pressure situations first round the house etc just for fun.

This is probably the world's most boring update. Just in case it helps anyone else, Matalan's elasticated trousers are slightly narrower than Asda's ones but are the same length.
