Pencil Case

I was wondering what you should put in a pencil case for Primary 1.
So far I have got hb pencils, colouring pencils, rubber, sharpener and ruler. Do you need a calculator or anything else.

Has the school asked for a pencil case? We don't allow them.

Glue stick and scissors, never enough in the classroom.

Surely the school will provide everything at that age? Every school I have worked in has provided all necessary items throughout, although some older pupils choose to have their own gel pens and kitten rubbers items.

Yes the school have asked for one, we were given a list with what should be included in the school bag and it just said full pencil case but didn't say what should be in it. Thanks NancyJoan didn't think of that.

Blimey, I'm worrying about my DS managing to keep hold of his own pencil case stuff when he goes into Y3 next year. No way would he have managed it when just starting school. I would have had to buy 195 pencils and send him in with one each morning!

We provide everything including pencil case which stay in school.

Hb pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener, coloured pencils. I wouldn't want children carrying scissors around with them hard enough to keep an eye on them in the classroom without someone playing hairdressers in the cloakroom

Yes definitely glue stick and scissors in my ds's school, but only from ks2.

All previous schools I worked in discouraged them but my current one insists upon them and provides less stationary to classes accordingly.

I think that sounds about right for P1. Might be best for you to check they're sharpened after school rather than relying on them to be done in school.

Please parents don't send 100 novelty rubbers for your child to decorate their desk with and have me spending my break dealing with friendship fallouts over lending/stealing issues. Sharpies are not colouring pens!
