School place offered all Paperwok completed LEA threatening to withdraw

I moved back to London after completing my training. Applied for a school place through LEA website. Had a call from the headteacher offering a place, asking to complete the paperwork and start school from September 2016. completed all paperwork at school bought uniform, now school is closed for summer holidays.
Recieved en email from local authority offering me another place on my last priority, informed them that my son already secured a place and all paperwork has been completed and starting school from September.
I have been told LEA doesn't have any record for the offer which already been accepted by me and they cant contact school due to holidays, but threatening me, that offer may have been made in error which they cant prove until they speak to the head teacher.
I am worried now, really don't know what to do, please advise what should I do?

Thank you

Kind regards

I would phone the school. There may well be administrative or management staff there who can help you.

If not, send an email to the headteacher. I would be very surprised if the headteacher isn't checking his or her emails.

Good luck; hope it is sorted out.

Sounds like the headteacher has just forgotten to inform the council that they have accepted your child.

Hopefully the school will reply to your email over holidays but not all primaries have admin staff during the summer.

Not as simple as is being made out because it depends very much on the age of the pupil involved and what is the local policy on in-year applications.
If that is that the LA is responsible for allocating places and for confirming in writing then that does not seem to have happened in this case.
There are legal precedents that once a school place has been offered that there are only a few reasons that a place can be withdrawn and also even if offered by mistake, after a period of time that the place should not be withdrawn. So if the LA came back within 3 days then they probably do have the right to withdraw the place, if it is 3 weeks then the bulk of previous legal decisions are in favour of the pupil retaining the place.
As others have said the person who can sort this out easily is the head teacher. Go back to them in writing asking the head teacher to confirm tot the LA that you have been offered and accepted the school place.Make sure you say that you have already invested in school uniform etc. I think though that you might have to wait until late August / September before you can sort this out.
