Hello Mums! I just moved to eastcote and want to know how to apply to schools in the harrow borough as I'm on the Hillingdon side of pinner HA5.
its late i know but we just moved here.my daughter is finishing yr 3.on a website it shows that coteford infant school is near by and cannon lane and others.could i apply for cannonlane, westlodge? and which are other real good primaries?is coteford junior school really good?i really want a very good school for her . She is 8. Will be in yr 4 in September. What's the waiting time like? Can i reject a school they give if i dont want it and wait for her turn to come if I'm put on a waiting list?
Sorry for the typos. Its difficult on a mobile.

You really need to ring both Education Authorities and ask them which schools have places. Unfortunately all the schools in both boroughs are very over subscribed so it won't be a matter of which school you would prefer it is which school will be able to accommodate her in Yr 4. You are lucky though in that all the schools in these 2 boroughs are very good schools so which ever you are allocated will be fine. You should not reject a school that you are given as then the authority have no obligation to find an alternative. You need to accept the one they give you and then ask to go on a waiting list for the one you want. Waiting lists can increase and decrease at any time so only the authority can tell you how many are on the list at any one time. Even if you are number 1 on the list a place will only become available when someone leaves, that could be in a week's time or a year's! No can tell you when that might be.
Best of luck

Thanks Arabella. That's pertinent information! It helps clarify exactly what i wanted to know:whether i reject a school choice and wait for the one i want or accept the one i get and keep waiting if a space opens up in the school i selected. But i agree that because the schools are all good in the area it wont be a loss either way. How is fieldend junior school and what are the best Eastcote schools? Which have known repute for good academics? Could you list a few names? Thank you

Actually Field End junior possibly not as good as some others. From where you live, I'd try Cotefield, Cannon Lane, Newham, WestLodge And Longfield (Longfield is further away but good school)
What have the EAs said?

It's worth looking at the data dashboards for each school too.

Thanks for confirming the schools fivehours! That helps make the decision easier! Do i write cannon lane and west lodge on the hillingdon form or do i need the harrow form for it?
