Punishment of year 3 students

My son is in year 3 and has a newly qualified teacher. His class has always been a good class with no major issues. Parents, teachers and students loved their newly qualified teacher from year 2. Their teacher this year is not very nice. She follows the punish the whole class for the misdemeanors of a few practice. This includes missing play time, coming out of class late at the end of the day and being sent outside to repeatedly line up in register order. Needless to stay, many parents have been complaining and the kids are crying before class. She also yells at the children when they don't get an exercise right or for asking questions. The list could go on.

I have spoken to the teacher and the head teacher as we have had health issues that have not been acted upon by the teacher. My son is lucky. He is very clever, but does not like school anymore.

Today my son came home and said the teacher made the class queue up outside and she had said 'everyone outside into the freezing cold' without their coats. Apparently, a few of the kids were not listening. My son and a number of children all have barking coughs and I am concerned about his health. Perhaps I am being over protective. I can't wait to get rid of this teacher. Any thoughts? I can go to the teacher, but is it worth taking this back to the head teacher or her supervisor?

I would be asking to see a copy of the school's behaviour policy. Highlight the sections that aren't being followed and take it to the Head (if you've spoken to the teacher about this before).

Sounds horrific. I'd certainly be asking to see the behaviour policy and I'll bet that's not on it Hmm

Talk to the head again. It is poor teaching practice & a sign of an immature teacher. I would try that first & if nothing changes think about writing.

Wasn't collective punishment something the Nazi's were fond of? That's really crap.
