I went to Good Shepherd and now know someone on the board of governors and its still supposed to be a very good school. It was certainly very good ehen i was there. It feeds into Christ the King which has improved hugely over last 10yrs thanks to a good new head and chairman of governors, Beckett and Trinity are also very good secondaries. St Margaret Clitheroe is also supposed to be very good for primary these days although when I was still at school (wee while ago now as you can imagine) Good Shepherd was considered to be better.

Thanks soyo. I really like the look of good shepherd, the only thing putting me off was ctk secondary so it's great to hear its improved. We're probably between trinity and ctk, I wonder if there's any chance of attending trinity after good shepherd even if they're not linked?

Good Shepherd has a good rep. Edmund Campion is one of the best schools in the country!

Hello, you don't say how old your DC is but you may need to get up to speed with applying for schools in Notts. Depending on where you live it is tough to get in to any school and here in West Bridgford where ST Ed Ca is, the Church Of The Holy Spirit had to create space for a buggy park, there are so many baptised children hoping for a space at the school. Good luck!

Baffledmum - that's very interesting! I can well believe it.

You don't mention whereabouts in Nottinghamshire you are. Holy Cross Catholic Primary in Hucknall is supposed to be one of the top primaries in the country.

Lots of people go from Good Shepherd to either Trinity or Beckett so am sure you can do that but if you're concerned why not contact Trinity & find out for sure.

Thanks so much everyone for your help. Does anyone know anything about Our Ladys in Bulwell or St Mary's Hyson Green?

Thanks Baffledmum, it wouldn't be till September 2014 so we have a bit of time. It would be nice for DD to go to a linked preschool though - do you know what the Good Shepherd one is like Soyo?

Ilikebirds, thanks so much for that - I checked out the website for Holy Cross and it looks great! We live about 15 minutes away from there though so I'm not sure what the traffic is like?
