Relocating ! Help on primary schools in Walton-on-Thames

Hi,
I'm new to Mumsnet and am relocating down from up north. We have found a property we are keen to put an offer on in Sidney road in Walton-on-Thames...we have a 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son...and are catholic. However, I am worried about lots of the Ofstead reports I have read on Waton primary schools (apart from Ashely - which I understand is super hard to get into..though we would most certainly try)..Would I be better off in Weybridge? We just really liked the "friendly feel" of Walton....any advice would be most welcome !

Cardinal Newman RC Primary School in Hersham is lovely. It's also the local Catholic School for children living in Walton. The last Ofsted report wasn't the best but I personally don't believe it is reflective of the school. St Charles Borromeo is the local Catholic school in Weybridge - lovely school also but only takes in 30 children per year so more tricky to get into.

Thanks Wools - great to hear that about Cardinal Newman - the last Ofsted report is not good but I noticed it was carried out quite a while ago. I will have to visit next time I am down. Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I live just down the road from you, having moved here a year ago from Weybridge. I have a little girl who will be one in 3 weeks.
I am a teacher and have also been looking at schools.
Cardinal Newman is highly recommended by Catolic parents. Yes, the Ofsted report is not too good, but sometimes they have far too much criteria to fulfill. Being Catholic, your children will probably not get into Ashley as they are very strict on being COE. If you are interested in Independent schools, St George's Junior School on the cusp of Weybridge and Walton (near the river) is lovely. I'd like to send my lil one there...finance permitting!!

When do you move here? If you fancy meeting for a coffee at all, let me know.

Hello, I know these are old post but we are currently looking at catholic schools in Walton/weybridge & wondered what the latest feedback was on Cardinal Newman? I think we are slightly far away from Saint Charles so am hoping we have a 2nd option for catholic education for out daughter starting in Sept 2016. Does anyone have any feedback on manby lodge infant school as well? Many thanks!!
