I know it's early days yet, but I LOVE my DD's reception teacher Miss T.

However since starting school her views on gender have got even more stereotyped than when she started nursery. She's always loved cars and dinosaurs as well as babies and glitter, and her little brother is the same, and we really want to keep it that way. So it was a bit upsetting seeing DD say DS wasn't allowed to play with the buggy, or that she couldn't wear blue.

We understand these messages are everywhere and it certainly isn't the school's fault, but DH approached Miss T this morning to say DD was getting upset and confused. She was really nice about it and she actually talked to all the pupils about it today, before they went off to play! They had a discussion about dressing up clothes and how anybody can play with any toys etc. She talked to me after school and said she knew how we felt.

I know it's a small thing but the fact she acted on it straight away and was so understanding of our worries really made me even more happy about DD being in school :)

I agree - lovely when you feel that the school take on board your concerns.

I also love DS2s reception teacher. He's had a great time, so far, and I can see that the children are given individual attention.

Another thumbs up for reception teachers/reception nursery nurses here. My uber clingy dd has emerged happy, relaxed and confident all 3 lunchtimes so far.

I adored ds's reception teacher too. So did he. However, I think his year 1 teacher is great too.

I also love my DD's reception teacher and DD is in love with her too! I'm so happy with her first few weeks at school. They couldn't have gone better.

We've been talking about getting a dog and DD wants to call it after her teacher. Bless!

DD1's new teacher this year is lovely. DH has a broken wrist and can't do her hair in the morning (I'm at work in the morning). I spoke to her teacher who told us to stick hairbrush and hairbands in the book bag, and every morning she sorts DD's hair out for her. Absolutely fabulous.

The DSs' teacher is fantastic, as is the TA. DS2 is very nervous, and I knew he was finding it hard, but the school are doing everything they can to help, and have reassured me that he's happy and beginning to come out of his shell.
