Hi , tried to get some advise some weeks ago about movement on waiting list on Catholic schools in sw16 but not much joy. we are quite high up on the waiting list but not sure this area has much movement through the year. Does not look like we will be getting a place by September.

Depends which one. I know a highly sought after Catholic school which currently has siblings on the waiting list! I wouldnt give up hope though as people do move and keep ringing the schools especially this week as last week of term to see if you have moved up.

Thanks for your reply. much appreciated .No it is not one of the v.oversubcribed one as this one took some kids from other parish.Forgot to mention it is for a reception place but we made mistake on form and did not get in.... feel so guilty , now we just have to wait and see.

Don't lose hope. We applied last year for reception places. DS did not get in to our own parish school. He was 9th on the list, moved up to 6th, I think got to 4th over the summer holidays, but then there was no movement at all.

However, one of the other schools on his list, further away he moved up the list very fast. At the start of September last year he was 2nd. He finally got place a week before half-term in October. I had reservations about moving schools, but it has been fine.

There is always some movement. How close are you to the school? How far up the waiting list are you?

The school he's in now has very little movement normally, but after he started two more children from his class left. So you never can tell.

OK, well sometimes kids don't turn up on day 1 so you may find that even if there is no movement over the summer that you do move up.

On the downside, people could move in closer to the school that you.

Probably was an unauthorised sales posting. If you are selling a service here, you need to pay a business fee.

It is very stressful being on the waiting list. Do make sure you're on a few waiting lists. Looking back a year it seemed hopeless though.
