We don't get our letters posted out until 3rd of May...no chance of finding out any other way.

21st Century has obviously not reached Northants County Council Envy

Anyone else waiting very patiently, but gets slight jitters everytime they think about it?

We found out in March, but what we found out is that she didn't get a place. Anywhere. So we're now waiting to see if she gets to the top of any waiting lists in time, or if we are home educating.

Quite happy to wait with you :)

Wow!! Butterpie March!

When did you get your application in? The deadline here was mid Jan.

I want to know for a certain reason too.

Am thinking of deferring DDs start, or at the most p/t until Christmas.

Top choice I know there will be no problem with this, but if it's 2nd option, not so sure.

What's made you think of HE instead of holding out for the place you want? Is your child's birthday near September? This is a genuine question, not a recommendation btw.

Northants here too.

It's been a long six months since I submitted my application. I think we may be the last county to allocate (although someone on another thread meantioned East Cheshire?)

Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting...............

DD1 was born March 2007, so I think she's about middle in the year.

Application was in well before the deadline, online. We live in a pretty normal suburban ex mining town, ie there's not lots of new builds or anything to explain a surge of four year olds.

HE is our only real option - she is on the waiting list for the four schools we could walk to, we don't drive and I personally think it daft to go to a school where you have to get two buses every morning and evening. We have decided to send her to school after originally preferring HE, but if that is the only option, so be it.

I think our application deadline was around the turn of the year.

Hi angelpantser

Fingers crossed for you too, it's pretty poor to be left waiting all this time Sad

All our preferred and local schools are oversubscribed, so think we're bound for a disappointment one way or another.

Still waiting in Derbyshire too.
Should hear by email on Tuesday.
Feeling quite pessimistic so have been avidly reading all appeal threads.

Also waiting. Find out Tuesday, it won't be much of a surprise though. It will be my 3rd choice. Also reading about appeals, have had some good advice from panelmember.

I'm in Derbyshire too and still waiting. It syas email at 9am so I'll be eagerly waitin with very short nails.
Hoping dd will get into the school (only put one choice) because ds is there so sibling rule should work. The only problem is school is very over-subscribed and we are out of catchment......

We're also Derbyshire - don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!

AbbyLou - what if she doesn't get a place?? I know a few siblings who didn't get into our 1st choice school a couple of years ago. Fingers crossed for you (and everyone else)! We're also out of catchment and applying to an oversubscribed school.

I just happened to log into the County Council website, they have published allocations!

We have got our 1st choice! If it happens for us, then maybe other posters can be surprised too?

I'm pretty stunned, it's really over-subscribed, and we're out of catchment (by a few 100 metres) but it's still in walking distance.

Best thing is though, Reception do a long stretch part time, so deferring her start may not be needed.

Fingers crossed for everyone else.

Derbyshire here too....our email was sent at 8am and we got our 1st choice Grin. I was a bit nervous as we aren't in catchment. Good luck to all those still waiting!

Northants here too. Checked online first thing & DD1 is in our first choice, although the school isn't oversubscribed so it was never really in doubt I still feel relieved Grin It was a long wait!!

Butterpie - I really feel for you a horribly uncertain situation. Hope you have some good news soon.

Well we haven't got any of our three choices and have been offered a school we do NOT want. Hmm So called the school we don't want and have asked them for a date to come in and look round, and they can't see us for three weeks as they are too busy doing SATS. Hmm

whomoved that's really unfair, how long is the appeal process open for?

and genuine question again, why waste your (and school's for that matter) time visiting a school you have already decided against?

Beaker - I don't know re the appeals process - we can accept it anyway and keep appealing and I am number 1, number 2 and number 2 in the queue for the schools we DID apply to so there is nothing to say we can't go on the continued interest list AND appeal for each one and get in.

I am attempting to keep an open mind on this school. Ofsted reckons it's good. The school says it's oversubscribed Hmm But I had specific concerns about it, which is why we didn't apply to it. But if I can meet with the head and he can allay those worries perhaps we can learn to love it.

well, looking at the fact you are no further than 2nd in line for a place at your preferred school(s) i think there has to be a good chance of getting one before very long.

here's hoping Smile

butterpie maybe you're situation will improve once all the LEAs have allocated, people may be holding out for house moves and so on?

First choice for DS too. Thank goodness. I did check just after midnight, though Blush.

WMMC best of luck with your appeal. I joined MN after trawling the internet for appeal info for a friend. By far the best advice came from PRH47, Panelmember and Admissions.

How do you check? I can't find where you log in . I have not had an e-mail and I am getting worried that something went wrong with my application. I cannot find a confirmation e-mail from when I did it either?

Report
whomovedmychocolate · 03/05/2011 20:41

sillytart - don't fret - if you are due to get a result by email - first check your spam folder, next go to the same place you lodged your online application - usually the LEA website. Log in using the same username and password, if you can't remember it CALL THEM - admissions authorities are actually really helpful when you talk direct to them IME.

Good luck :)

Having let the dust settle a bit I'm actually not too worried, I'll either get her in, or I won't. I'll go through the hoops, treat it like an exercise in patience development and steer our way to the end.

DD got our first, and only, choice. I am so relieved. I will sleep well tonight knowing I haven't got to disrupt her happy existence.
My sympathies to those who weren't as lucky, I don't envy you at all. I ti s such a minefield.
