How od I get dd to speed up?

Dd is in year 2. Her teacher had a quick word with me tonight to say that she needs to speed up. She has been put in a high ability group because her teacher believes she is capable of good work but she is only producing 1 sentence to her peers 6.

Short of telling her to pull her finger out what can I do to help her?

Yes i must watch this thread too. My year 3 son works is line with those at the top of the class quality wise BUT he works at a snails pace. He doesn't really enjoy writing but I expect he will get faster in his own time. Interestingly at pre-school/reception he avoided art work and didn't enjoy simple mark making. I wonder if he never really developed his fine motor skills.

Idem
My DD is still little, (nearly 4), but we've had the same feedback exactly from school: she is doing well, bright, but slow.

She takes time over every little detail and can't bear to break off in the middle of anything.

Hmmm. no answers. Will watch with interest.

...I also think he is a refective thinker and doesn't like to rush into things. He dislikes how the fast workers show off about how many pages they have written and he doesn't aspire to be like them in attitude.
