Ok....have asked this before and now am back again!!

Thanks to you lovely ladies my dd has thouroughly enjoyed the kitty series by bel mooney and the daisy books by kes gray. We have now run out of easy to read chapter books for her and so any suggestions? At the library we looked at the milly molly mandy books but the print was tiny and mabye slightly too tricky for her. The famous 5 i think still a bit tricky also. she is 6 and really loves books about girls, mischievious girls if possible! She didn't like the magic treehouse books and I steer her away from rainbow fairies as they are so dull!Grin

Thanks in advance, all suggestions gratefully recieved. She loves reading at bedtime now.

My naughty little sister? Amelia Jane? Secret 7s? (think they are easier than Famous 5) Easier Roald Dahls such as fantastic Mr Fox, George's Marvellous Medicine? Have just ordered 2 of the Daisy books for my dd on your recommendation, as she seems to like similar things to your dd!

Thanks, great, will look into the amelia jane books and then go onto the secret seven for her! There are about 4 or 5 daisy chapter books i think, my dd absolutely adores them!

My DD really enjoyed the Little Animal Ark series . There are about 9 or 10 in the series each one about a different animal.Would also recommend the Amelia Jane books .

Dick King-Smith Sophie series.
Worst witch (already mentioned).
Have you tried Horrid Henry? Similarly easy and my girls liked them.

Anne Fine has various easy chapter books, the girls tend to be fairly feisty.
Jacqueline Wilson has some easy chapter books, and has lots of mischevious girls. Things like Connie and the Water babies, Cliffhanger, Video Rose, Glubbslyme.

My DD enjoyed the naughtiest girl series, also the magic faraway tree books at that age. Also she started getting in Roald Dahl books.

The Rainbow Fairies series by "Daisy Meadows" is the big obsession in our Y1. "She" has written over 100 so we keep our library busy in reservations.

YY to the Worst Witch chapter books

Has anyone mentioned My Secret Unicorn - kind of rainbow fairy-esq, but less formulaic & painful

thanks guys, great.

yes, the trouble with daisy books are fab, they follow on from the daisy picture books and are really what sparked her initial interest in reading and reading alone.

worst witch - how many in the title? are they an easy read?

Takver, will look into my secret unicorn. I think dd would quite like rainbow fairies but you are right, they are painful! I also think they are not such an easy read and are written bizzarly, a few easy sentences, then very tricky words thrown in and difficult to pronounce character names....
