I'm not sure if there are many fake ones out there, I think it tends to be NOT having one when one should that is the problem! They are hard to describe, green and pink with lots of writing is the best I can do!

they are a pinky purply colour and are confidential. They have a list of headingds with something recorded under it. Moine has None recorded under each 1

Did you check his teachers CRB check?

I doubt you did... you accepted that whomever hired them had checked it. So why are you not also assuming that for the after school coach? They have been hired by someone... not directly by you. They may also be part of an organisation that regulates/inspects the type of club.

You have to have someone to verify your CRB usually your boss.

Ask at school who saw the certificate and then ask them to verify this.

Where I work when we have a new person in whose crb needs to be seen, one person takes responsibility for seeing it and then it gets logged by the Head's p.a. that it's been seen.

Why do you want to check? Are you going to check his coaching qualifications too?

Normally, the school oversees procedures and carries out the relevant checks.

If the coach is hired by the school, that should be good enough, but yes, you could always ask. However, it would be a bit like asking to see proof of qualified teacher status of a teacher - that's the school's job.

btw, enhanced CRB is the one needed.

The short answer is that you can't. A member of the public cannot obtain a CRB check directly. It must be obtained through an employer or voluntary organisation. You can take a look at his copy of the CRB check if he is willing to show it to you but that isn't necessarily complete. The employer or voluntary organisation involved will receive their own copy of the check which, for an enhanced check, may include information that isn't on the copy sent to the employee/volunteer. You have to rely on the employer/voluntary organisation doing their job properly.

I'm afraid the procedure used by Oneofsuesylvesterscheerios' school is seriously lacking if they simply look at the CRB check. As I've said above, the copy of the check sent to the individual may not have all the information on it. Her school should, at the very minimum, be contacting the countersignatory named on the front of the CRB check, confirming that the reference number and identity details match and asking them if they received any additional information. They will not be able to tell you the nature of any additional information they received so, if there was additional information, you should insist on your own CRB check.
