My son has never been a good sleeper. His nickname used to be sky news, every hour on the hour. Then he promoted to BBC news up at 3 am. Everything I tried failed. From 8 months old i was back at work full time in a very stressful NHS job. Sleep was vital for both of us as he got older he used to sneak in bed with me when hubby had had got up for his 3 am shift. We did have problems with bed wetting till he was about 6 thanks to estranged mothers in law lack of care of this matter. To cut a long story short at 12 years old on boxing day he is still sneaking in bed with me. The bed wetting has stopped. I'm worried about any of the pupils at school finding out another that he sneaks into mum's bed. Help i don't know what to do fit the best. He has designed his own room with wallpaper, bedding and furniture etc. He has an electric blanket for cold nights. I dont know what to do. Help!

I wouldn't worry about friends finding out and teasing him. Who is going to tell them? I expect your DS will choose to sleep on his own soon. My DS would come and sleep in my bed when my DH was away but drifted away from doing that of own volition when he got to 11ish.

My 11 year old would sleep in bed with me if he could - seriously! He gets weeks here and there when he can't fall asleep easily and I let' him sleep in with me til DH comes to bed and then DH will 'sleepwalk' him back to his room where he will sleep the rest of the night. I doubt he tells anyone, and I am sure some of his friends do similar!

all my kids would sleep in my bed if they could too! when the 11yr old comes in during the night he has to go back to his own bed though, hes just too large now and i cant sleep with him next to me.
they all sleep with lights on and the hall light, i think at 11 they have so much spinning around in their heads and are exhausted from school, it takes ds ages to unwind and actually fall asleep.
