DD1 (11) has a bit of underarm hair, there was just a few wisps for ages then suddenly quite noticeable when she lifts her arms.
she swims every week and will swim with school this term
i suggested to her this morning that she could shave it off and i could show her if she wants and she just said "mum, why would i want to do that, it's fine, now go away"
she wasn't embarrassed. just wanting to get in the shower. i just left it "well if you want to let me know and i'll show you".

but i don't want her teased... should i encourage her more or is that just my memory/teen horrors filling my brain!?

I'd leave her until she asks or you will make her self conscious about it

At that age it's almost like a badge of honour to have signs of "being a grown up"! I think it's great she's cool with it. If she comes to you being teased or worried then you can offer removal help/options.
