Is it standard across England for Preschool funding to be for 12.5 hours a week?
Thinking of moving to London to study when DS is old enough for preschool. Have dim recollection of someone telling me that different boroughs offered different amounts of funded preschool hours - please let me know if this is the case

I'm pretty sure it's the same all over England.

I think it's going to increase at some stage, but can't remember when or to what.

Around here it is 12.5, where my sister is its 15
I think everywhere will have 15 by 2010 but some local authorities are bringing it in earlier

thanks for all the replies - must have dreamt that it was possible to get more than 12.5!
I want to do a post-grad course so wouldn't get a child-care grant and money would be tight. Not sure that 12.5 hours would give me enough time to study, especially as I wouldn't have any relatives or friends nearby to help out.

There are pilot schemes in operation that are offering 15 hours per week.

The 15 hours per week will come into force for every area in 2010.

Some LEA nurseries offer full days at nursery, which effectively means that the school is subsidising the extra hours. You would need to phone each school to find out what they offer.
