Long hours nursery for working mums?

HI,

I am due on February 2016 and under the advise of many friends I started looking already for a place at a nursery. I live in Kensington London and I am struggling to find a nursery that can take my future baby for the all day. I want to return to work after maternity and I would prefer my baby to be at school than be at home with the nanny. Any advise on a nursery that takes your kids from 9 until 4/5 pm? I am very surprised that most of the private one take your kids only for few hours.

Thank you
Paola

Hi there, I think you've made a mistake here - all private day nurseries offer 9-5 if not 8-6 that I have encountered. School nurseries and preschools attached to schools usually only do a few hour sessions from 3. The day nursery I used for my children also offered early morning drop off from 7.30 and we're not even in London. Plenty of children did 8-6. Outside of these hours I think you'd struggle tbh and would be better off with a nanny.

You don't want a baby in a school setting. You need a day care nursery, rather than a preschool nursery.
I'd start with some of these tho I don't know the area.

thank you Foragogo , but all the good nurseries in Kensington and Chelsea seems to be offering either the morning or the afternoon school. Anyone that lives in the area that have suggestions?
Thank you

Agree with the others.
There are Nursery Schools - which are for older children only, and tend to be school hours or just half days.
There are also Private Nurseries which are Day Care, and open from 7.30 / 8am, until 6pm/6.30.

Here you go

Pippa Pop-ins in Kensington Place does full days, 8am - 6pm (though you can drop off up to 9.15 and pick up from 5.30). It also runs activities in the school holidays so is v good if you are working and don't want to combine nursery with a nanny in the holidays.
