Nurseries in Rickmansworth area?

We are thinking of moving to Loudwater near Rickmansworth (just as we finally got nursery arrangements in place in Belsize Park for DS who will start in Sep, aged 1 - agh!!), so need to start the nursery hunt again. Does anyone have any insder tips?

Have seen there is (bilingual!) one very closeby in Loudwater which would be v convenient but oftesd report not so good. I'll need to travel to "Rickie" each day to take the tube so that would also be a possibility but don't know much about what is there - any ideas? Thanks very much!

Hi there, not much information for you I am afraid but I know two families who have sent their children to the biligual one (Spanish?) and been very happy with it.

Ignore my last message, I spoke to the friend again today and there seems to be a bit of a problem with the bilingual place and I believe it is shut at the moment whilst new premises are found. Sorry I have been no help at all really!

Thanks Bubbles12 - actually that does help! I know there 2 very good ones in Chorleywood and Bovingdon but they are a bit further a way. Would be great if the Loudwater one was up and running and good..!

There are several up in Northwood:
Mount Vernon Nursery (which is a Bright Horizons, just off the main A404)
Northwood Day Nursery is near Northwood HQ
Chickywicks Day Nursery is in Northwood (near the station)
Teddies Nursery is in Riverside Health club (Also owned by Bright Horizons: some staff interchange).

If you have to go into Ricky to the tube, I assume you mean by car? Northwood is 5-10 mins away from Ricky station. Also, Mount Vernon and Teddies are quite close to Moor Park tube, about a 5-7 minute drive and there's a decent car park.

(I would recommend going to MP not Northwood as it gets fast tubes not stopping everywhere tubes!)

IMO the best in the area is Old MacDonalds in Chorleywood, but there will be a waiting list.

The tube from Chorleywood is the same line etc as Ricky, and I think slightly more trains (DH prefers C/W as is more likely to get a seat).
