i know general stuff like sleeping bag, warm clothes etc, but i mean small but useful items that will really prove invaluable if the shit hits the fan? i have a collapsible water carrier, water purification tablets, wire saw, small first aid kit, but what household or easily accesible things can i pop in?

Pack of cards or a book... Boredom can sap the soul.

Passport or other documents for ID purposes, or photocopies.

As many pairs of clean knickers and socks as you can cram in.

Assume you already have small towel, face flannel, soap, shampoo, toothbrush & paste.

Oh, and a usb drive with things like family photos and any other computer files you want to save. You can scan or photograph important papers to put on too. (I'm a writer and my usb with all my work on would be one of the first things I'd grab.)

Yes I have an usb drive that only lives in my ofrs and is regularly updated with photos and documents.

All our important documents are there too- it's as good as place as any to 'file' Wink

Depends on if you want a GHB or a BOB really. They are two different things.

I think you need both a GHB (get home bag) and BOB (bug our bag)

I intend to "bug in" if the SHTF so have stuff with me everyday which will help me to get home.

But in the case of a fire, you have no choice but to leave...

I like to have a ghb a hbob (hotel bug out bag) and an inch bag (I'm neve coming home) because if I am bugging out then I am never going back
