Anyone got any positive stories to cheer me up?! Currently in hospital as had 2 big contractions out shopping on Thurs and since then feeling pressure and cramps. Had routine MW appt Fri morning and she said it was normal, just my uterus contracting, this is my second baby so I know what Braxton hicks are like and this wasn't it although I am getting them lots aswell, MW wasn't interested in listening to me so I went home. Rang Friend who is also a MW she advised me to ring hospital if I was still worried and they got me in for tests. All looks good with baby and cervix pretty much closed but the fibronectin(?) test they did was positive so they kept me in last night for the steroids. Probs be in another night and see how things go. Hasn't progressed overnight but not much better either. Anyone been in this situation? Am 25 and a half weeks, if I manage to keep baby in for the next day or two will I go home and be signed off work? Will I have to go on bed rest? Obviously I want to do everything in my power to keep baby in but equally don't want to sit with my feet up all day if it won't make any difference to the outcome
Thanks

Not quite a 26 weeker, but our son was born at 28+2. I visited the hospital with reduced movement at 27 weeks and they discovered he was only the size of a 25 week baby. I was signed off for a month from work as they were hoping to keep him in until 30 weeks but he wasn't coping very well and was delivered by section 8 days later. He only weighed 730g (1lb 9oz) so we were glad he was delivered safely. He came home at the beginning of March after 85 days in NICU and SCBU and is now almost 9 months. It was a tough time but now it is all just a blur. I kept a diary which I would highly recommend as its a great reminder of how far he has come. He is such a character and is developing really well for his corrected age. I hope all goes well for you and the outcome for your baby is the same as our wee munchkin!

My 26 weeker starts school this week Smile Every complication under the sun (bar NEC) in hospital, but it would appear no ongoing issues at all. I know a fair few early prems with more problems, so I don't want to give you false hope, but I can certainly give you a happy story!

Good luck.

27 weeker (twins) here so we were told they were more like 26 weeker singletons. I had aleady started to dilate when I got to hospital so although they tried to stop the contractions, they said it would be days until I delivered so they kept me in. I always thought that dilation was key - if you haven't started to dilate and the cervix is still closed, I think thats a really positive sign.

We had exactly 2 months in SCBU. No denying it was an emotional rollercoaster but 10 years on, how they got here doesn't really matter. Just that they're here and healthy. Cheeky, amazingly bright, sporty, just normal healthy children with no lasting effects whatsoever. Positive thoughts coming your way Flowers
