Hmmm...think I might be in labour.

Just thought I'd canvas opinion on this one -I feel like I might be on the verge of going into labour.
I am currently sitting (in some discomfort) at the laptop having had constant mild-moderate low cramps for at least 30 minutes now. Bump is very tight and the baby is not doing his normal morning workout in there although there is a bit of wriggling. Feel like they could escalate at any time but reluctant to call DH (2 hours drive away at work) until any sort of pattern emerges.
Could be false labour, could be the start of the real thing....time will tell I guess.
Yesterday I was sooooo tired and slept for Britain and this morning I was in a cleaning frenzy, so it's sounding possible isn't it...?
I think I need some encouragement/ shared experiences of early labour from those of you who can help me.
Oh, and do you know the worst of it? I have to wait in for a fridge freezer delivery this afternoon - I can see this becoming one of those 'brings a whole new meaning to the word delivery man' headlines!

Well exceptions do occur but generally if it's labour, you won't be in any doubt as time goes on. Contractions get closer together, lengthen and strengthen. Pre-labour where your body is niggling can go on for days though sadly.

Most women take some paracetamol, have a bath and see what happens. It usually becomes clear if it is happening. Don't worry about trying to bring things on and walking up and down stairs etc, do what you feel like doing, keep half an eye out for a pattern and good luck.

Not sure I will be much help, other than to say it could be!

I have been in a lot of discomfort over the last three weeks, with very regular BH, and have thought every night that this is it! I am now 40+5, very fed up, uncomfortable and monsterously tired (heat + low blood pressure, I think!). Is this your first? If it is then don't worry too much about calling DH just yet. If not, maybe a warning phonecall could be worthwhile!!!!

Just to say that I am thinking of you and hope it all happens soon {smile}

Thanks ladies. Yes, it's my first, hence the reluctance to be a drama queen about it all! The pain is still pretty constant but moving round to my back a little, so like you say ShowOfHands, I'm just going to get on with my day and keep an eye on things! The whole time it's constant (almost an hour now) I'm not going to worry - if it becomes more intense and has intervals in between I'll think about calling DH - I don't want him to get 3 points on his license for nothing!
Hope that sounds sensible...

Oh no addictedtofrazzles! Don't say that!

I'm 38 weeks with DC3 and really, really uncomfortable, irritable, restless, niggly back pains, lots of regular BH's, lots of discharge, baby is running out of room so its really uncomfortable when he moves and I'm shattered - Can't cope with this for next 2+ weeks!!!

Never had any early signs or discomforts with DC's 1 & 2.

Hannymonster Hope its time for you! Are you near/past due date?

Hi WillowM2B - I know, as if this could go on for weeks....aargh! I'm 39+4 now so it really could happen any time now. Or in 2 weeks. Personally I am favouring the former.

Hey Hanny - any news?

Hi Frazzles - no, sadly not. I had 5 hours of cramps followed by nothing! Still, it's all practice for the real thing I guess...
Thanks for your concern though!
