...when you feel up to it?

I've sporadically been doing the 10 Minute Solutions Prenatal Pilates dvd at home and I think it's fab, really good for pelvic floor and flexibility. Managed 3 of the workouts in a row this morning which really helped tone my "core"...although, not nearly as much as lmao at the end when the instrutor reveal's her baby is to be called Sienna Chili!!!! I ache just from laughing!

I just bought that 10 min solution pre-natal pilates DVD, but have yet to start it....I had a quick look through and didn't notice a warm up or cool down section though.....does it not have one? Is it any good?
Otherwise, I am planning on taking up some swimming in the next couple months, along with lots of country walks when the weather warms up a bit more

The pilates execises are so gentle (and short) that you barely notice the difference between the warm up/cool down and main parts. She leads you into each section with a slow, deep breathing, gentle stretching movement and it just flows from there through each movement to another slow deep breathing, gentle stretching movement at the end. My favourite 10 minutes is Standing Pilates (I use 2 water bottles for dumbells), though I am now also keen on Total Flexibility. I really do enjoy it and would reccommend giving it a go.

I try to walk home from work - abouty 25 minutes if at a brisk pace.

I've been a bit crap recently though. I'm going to blame the weather.

going to gym 3 x a week, similar workout to pre-pregnancy other than that i've dropped the running (doing treadclimber instead) and using machines at slightly lower intensity. keep on saying when it gets too much will switch to swimming but its still ok at 34 weeks!

i went to gym until 29 weeks with personal trainer (sounds posher than it is, he runs groups for mums) and then as my hips started giving me more and more gip i eased it off a bit. Since they've got a lot better i've just been running around after my 2yo and walking the dog, am now 39+3.
Definitely had a more active pg than my last one and feel infinitely better for it and hoping for a better labour too.
The weeks FLY by - don't say you'll take up swimming in a couple of weeks, do it THIS WEEK, I promise you you'll enjoy it and feel better for it. Particularly if it's your first pg, I haven't had a FRACTION of the time I did for "me" this time around. (sorry, not ranting, just trying to help!!)
good luck all!

I've been doing a bit of brisk walking! I am 14+2 and I just try and go first thing. Plug myself into my iPod and go. I know that I will be thankful to myself once bubba arrives and I've walked off any of the naughty stuff I have allowed myself!!!

yama - I blame the weather for everything!

I miss brisk walking but I just don't seem to have the energy for it. I get halfway up the road and my legs feel like lead and I'm out of breath! DH and I used to go on 8 hour hikes pre-preg.

Sometimes I walk to the kitchen to get some chips, but only if DH or DS isn't around.

Cross-country ski-ing, but I´ve been forbidden to race any more I know it´s the sensible thing to do but I still feel as though I could race. Any other very sporty mums-to-be here?

Not very sporty, but reasonably active - I'm 18 weeks and commuting by bike still, and planning to carry on till I go on maternity leave unless I find it gets wobbly. I'm also swimming and doing pregnancy yoga and Pilates classes (replacing my ordinary Pilates classes). I don't feel any different from pre-pregnancy yet: I only gave up my normal Pilates classes because of not being supposed to do the abdominal exercises any more.

Branflakegirl - I don't have much energy at the moment either. I think fitness pre-pregnancy can see you through though.

Morloth - .

CardiCorgi - nice weather for the ski-ing

Petsville - WOW!!!! Can I borrow some of your get up and go cos mine got up and went.

Morloth, pinemartina and Nymphadora - thanks for the abs workout giggle (almost as funny as Sienna Chili!)

BranflakeGirl - Bodystep, dog walking and working out with trainer until 30 weeks, since then just swimming and uphill walk on treadmill as am having twins and didn't want to overdo it. 37 weeks and now just doing pelvic floor and pelvic tilts as too swollen to do anything else...Can't wait to get back to it once they are out!

Well, the alternative to the cycling is the Tube, so I think most people would plan to carry on for as long as they could!

I'm 21 weeks. I am trying to swim or do aquafit twice a week, I didn't make it at all last week, hoping to go tomorrow! I haven't been to the gym for a while - my sports bra is too tight (that's my excuse!). My gym membership runs out on about 11 April and then I'm going to try to start going to my local pool but it will be hard to get the motivation once I;m home from work!
