When should I start to be concerned about weight loss instead of weight gain? I weighed when I found out I was pregnant (5/6 weeks), and weighed again this week (10 going into 11 Weeks) and have lost about half a stone in 4/5 Weeks.

I know it is quite common to lose weight in the first triemester due to sickness, but sickness has been getting progressively worse, and for the last 2 weeks especially I have been keeping very little down. Think I must be taking in a max of around 1000 cals a day at the moment, and that might be being generous by the time I've bought it back up.... Reading up though I'm sure/hope baby is getting everything it needs at the moment from whatever is in my system!

This is coming from a girl who suffered with an eating disorder late teens into start of 20s. (Never forced myself to be sick, just couldn't tolerate food, until I practically stopped eating cuz I didn't want to be sick anymore - but that is another story!). I think I'm starting to panic I'm going back to those days and that the sickness is in my head more than anything as I'm starting to dread eating even though I know this is different to then, and very normal! I just hate being reminded of what I used to be like....

Can't wait for this sickness to pass - just hope it does!!!!

The GP can prescribe anti sickness drugs though hon if it gets really bad. Maybe go and have a chat with them? They've always got time for pregnant ladies as it's important for the health of you and baby.

I got very skinny with my first pregnancy as I felt sick and was sick until week 18. But it won't hurt to go and talk to them.

I think it's probably not in your head this time and us ladies can feel really yucky in the first trimester

I really wouldnt worry too much. With both DS and DD I lost over a stone each time and by the end I had only got up to my normal weight. Both babies were absolutely fine.

With this pregnancy I have lost 10 pounds and am around 10 weeks pregnant. I am not worried in the slightest. I have no appetite and have to find something I can stomach when I feel absolutely starving. It is very common and perfectly normal.

Were you a normal weight to start with? The only issue would come if you were underweight to start with I think.

Take a multivitamin to cover yourself but Im sure you will be fine. Maybe mention it to the midwife when you see her. The baby doesnt really need that much to grow - if you think about it we are only recommended to eat 200 - 300 cal more in the third trimester so they really cant be using much can they.

Its awful I know feeling sick and horrible but dont worry about your baby

I found eating actually helped ease the morning sickness, I would feel most nausea when hungry. Graze, eat little and often. crystalised ginger is good and ginger beer, ginger is an anti-emetic (sp?) and stops you being sick.
