Pregnant and just burnt my tummy

I am 27 weeks pregnant and just managed to burn the top of my stomach. Have broken the skin slightly and really stings but not too bad. Could it affect the baby?

The baby will be fine but you'll need to keep an eye on the burn if it's a big one to make sure it doesn't get infected. How on earth did you manage to do that?

I bet Gangle underestimated the size of her bump when getting something out of the oven? I am 27 wks too and keep doing this (thankfully not resulting in actual burns though!). I keep touching the hob with my bump if I'm cooking or getting my top wet by standing too close to the sink when washing things up.

Hope you're ok Gangle, sounds painful.

thanks all. Is feeling a bit better now and glad to hear it won't hurt the baby. I was getting some peas out of the microwave for DS's lunch, dropped the bowl then caught it by clasping it to my stomach with my hand and some of the boiling water sloshed over the top. Forgot there is a baby in there rather than just a cushion stuffed up my top!

I did the same thing as Bexxa. It was nasty looking at the time but it's not even scarred. Baby wont even feel it. My midwife laughed when she saw it and said 'did you forget you had a bump out in front of you?'

Think the burn is now infected as it has a bit of yellow gunk coming out of it. Anyone have any idea how to treat? Have just been using an antiseptic cream.

Gangle I will get it checked if I were you especially as it seems to be infected now.
Good luck
