Pregnancy

Brown spotting constantly for 2 weeks

I suppose I'm looking for reassurance or any positive stories out there.

I am 8 to 8.5 weeks pregnant and since 6 weeks have been spotting brown cm EVERY single day. In varys in colour from light brown to slightly dark brown and also in consistency sometimes a lot, other days a tiny amount. I got worried last night as it turned to a light pink (last time that happened I had a mmc).

My consultant is off on holiday so can't even mention it to him and nobody else will see me as he is 'protective' of his patients - doesn't help me right now does it!?

Do you think it could be due to low progesterone? Baby aspirin (I am taking this with consultants knowledge)? Or is it just 'one of those things' as they keep telling me.

I have had 2 positive scans with heartbeats and everything growing normally but I am so scared that this is going to go wrong again.

I know there is nothing I can do (I've had 3 mcs so am very aware of that) but just want to know if there are any positive stories out there as all I can find are the usual 'I was told it was normal by my doc and not to worry but even after u/s scans with heartbeats I lost my baby'.

All I want is one baby. Why does it have to be so hard?

Hi lollipop, sorry you are going through this anxiety.

Is this how your previous m/cs started or were they different?

I only ask because brown spotting is very common, I didn't realise how common until I had it this pregnancy. I was told it is caused by cervical erosion and he fact that it is brown means that it is old blood making it's way out of your body.

The fact that you have had good scans is very promising. I had a scan at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat, yet the spotting carried on and off until about week 12.

My baby is now due in 3 weeks

I understand how upsetting it is. Good luck and sending you good vibes and best wishes x

meemarsgotabrandnewb - Thank you so much for replying, made me cry, in a good way of course.

My first two mcs started with heavy bleeding, my last I found out at a scan at 8 weeks - mmc. I had one day of slight pink discharge at 7 weeks, apart from that nothing.

I just keep hearing from lots of others that have had this and end up having a mc - don't think I could deal with another one.

Funnily enough it seems to have eased so far today - first time in 2 weeks! I've got a scan booked for Monday so hoping for good news.

Thanks for your post and good vibes

Hi,

just wanted you to know about my story....i too had a mmc last year in sept and took 10 long months to fall pregnant again.
I was a nervous wreak and still am for the first few weeks and it didnt help that i also bleed this time from week 6 up until week 12, and even today at 23 weeks i had a bit of blood after sex (tmi, sorry!)
Did you have a d&c last time? i only ask because i did and my consultant said my cervix is more senstive because if that and probably the cause of my bleeding.

I wish you all the luck in the world, i know what a horrible time it is for you.

Please go to the hospital and ask for a scan if you are at all worried though, you cant put yourself through the torment of waiting x

Thanks Barbie1.

I did have a D&C last time so am hoping that this is why the spotting is continuing... it is really stressful but really great to hear your story too. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy too xx

I'm having a scan on Monday - FXd

Lollypop maybe you've already left for your scan, but just wanted to add another positive story. I had this for about 4 weeks - later than you, starting the day after my 12 week scan - and I had had a D&C 4 months earlier following mmc. Interesting what Barbie said above because I haven't heard that before. Anyway, no cause was found, it eventually stopped and I'm now coming up to 39 weeks. Good luck.

Thanks Alana. I had already gone for my scan but again hearing these stories is great.

All went brilliantly at my scan. 9 weeks and everything as it should be. I'm going to try and stop worrying now, although think it is helping that the brown cm has finally stopped. Can't explain what it was as nobody knew.

Hope this gives hope to others out there xx

hiya everyone, i have been putting off looking up this subject, this was this 1st thread i looked at and i must say im glad i did. im 6wks and 4 days, i have had spotting for 2 days on and off, only when i go to the loo, ive been going out of my mind with worry, i also had a d&c on new years eve for a mmc at 10 weeks, i hac a mc at 7 weeks in aug of last year. reading your posts has given me some hope and settled me a little bit. i have a scan booked for monday, this is to check the babys in the right place as i only have 1 tube working after having a sterilisation reversal in 2006. glad you started this thread lollypop, good luck to all.

I'm glad this post has given you hope. It was truly upsetting getting the spotting but it is really common to get in early pregnancy and it can mean when things go right too. Good luck xx

Hi lollypop101 just wanted to say I am so happy that everything was ok in your 9wk scan. Was intrested to know after your 3 miscarriages did you have any tests? I have just had my 3rd miscarriage, went for a private 10wk scan and was told there was no heartbeat which was a total shock because I had no bleeding or cramps and this time it felt so different, I have had 2 d&c's with my previous m/c but this time I am going to let nature take it's course which I dont think it will so go back to hospital next week for another scan to see if anything has gone then probably in for the d&c the next day. Did you have d&c's with all 3? Did you get told to take the asprin because of test results you had or is this something you have chosen to do. Just don't know what to do? the nurse at the hospital said I am just unlucky and said they won't test because all 3 m/c have been different but I am going to the doctors to see if she can refer me for tests. Is it worth trying one more time or shall I get some tests. What did you do? I am nearly 31. Hope you don't mind me asking.
