Am not sure how it works, can I only get a sicknote from my GP?
I've been seen by a couple of consultants at the hospital but don't need to see them again; they commented in my notes on my hyperemesis and both prescribed medication for it.
Thing is (as everyone with hyperemesis knows ) GPs are very variable in how much they know about HG and I don't want to waste an appointment with one that doesn't know much about it. I've seen various locums and whoever had an emergency appointment available, so I'm not sure who would write me the best note but I'm sure if I could get a consultant to do it it would be better as they actually understand the condition.
I need a sort of retrospective note to point out to my employer that I have, in fact, been quite sick over the last few months - I've been self-certifying since May for the odd days I've had off, and had GPs notes for the period of several months I had off work from March-April. I don't need a letter to sign me off work as I'm now on maternity leave, but to explain what the symptoms were and how it has affected my work.
My condition worsened through the pregnancy instead of getting better as I had been expecting, so my productivity was decreasing towards the end but my HoD thinks that because I agreed to various targets earlier in the summer I can now get in trouble for failing to meet them.
If I wrote to the hospital and sent a copy of my notes, do you think I'd be able to get them to do it?
