Hi guys!

i have read about people getting a stitch like pain but this feels like a sharp constant stabbing pain, wondering if this is just stretching etc? or should i get it checked, can hardly stand up straight. owww!!!! takes my breath when i move.

How far on are you?

It sounds like stretched ligaments- I get these very easily but usually a bit higher up, can be really sore! No magic cure but did find swimming and yoga helped a bit, and lying down stretched out...bath sometimes eased it a bit too.

But... epigastric pain can be a symptom of pre-eclampsia, which is only really relevant if you're 20wks or over, but do keep an eye on other symptoms- headache, swelling etc. and if it persists do call your midwife to get her to check your blood pressure and protein in urine.

I had this around 24 weeks, had such severe stitch one night that I had a bath and could hardly get out and then had no option but to lie really still in bed breathing shallowly (is that a word?!!) until I fell asleep.

All fine the next day though and put it down to stretching ligaments.

Have you had your appendix out? I got very bad stretching pains around my appendix scar from probable adhesions inside me from years and years ago. V painful, although weirdly I didn't get any form my splenectomy scar which is much bigger and stretched right across one side of my bump. Hope they feel better soon.

I think if you've woken up in pain and feel sick, you should call your midwife and ask for some advice.

Nomorebooze - glad your feeling better, hope everything is ok x

Thedollshouse - I had pains like this to from 5 wks to 10 wks apparently I had what is commonly known as an agrivated ovary which has different levels of pain.

I had extremely bad pain and went to the Dr's in tears as I just couldn't cope with it after 2 weeks - it helped that I took someone with me to say that I wasn't over reacting and I had been in pain - his advice was a scan at 6 wks as a reasurance (everything was fine) but my advice is that if you are in pain please see your Dr and if a scan is not offered please ask for one if you need reasurance, they wont rush it through (waited 4 days) but it was worth the wait. The Dr said at the time he wasn't worried as I didnt have a temperature at the same time so if you do please go and see your Dr straight away.
