Preparing for labour

My partner is wanting to know what to expect when i go into labour and wants to not panic,lol yeah right!. Anyway does anyone know where he could see women in labour and giving birth as he is really worried and wants to know roughly what to expect, does anyone have any ideas of where to buy/watch this to get him ready,lol

That's very sensible and nice of him.

I would recommend attending a tour of the hospital and the hospital's antenatal session together.

Not sure about watching women in labour, TBH, as everyone is so different, but am sure if he looks up birth stories on youtube there will be some videos on there.

At the antenatal class we went to, my poor DH could cope with the description of the huffing and puffing and the look of the ventouse, the epidural needle and the forceps but you should have seen the look on his face when they passed round the speculum! I didn't have the heart to point out that was normal for smear tests and I'd seen it all before

if he wants to see calm births search youtube for hypnobirths. There are some good ones on there, UK ones too. Nancy's hypnobirth is good.
best tips for birth companions, be loving and affectionate, tell you how beautiful and amazing you are 'what gets the baby in helps get it out' so lots of snogging etc good. He is also your advocate, make sure he knows what you want for your birth and will be confident to ask the midwives etc lots of questions on your behalf.
