on my sides or my stomach! Am only 12 weeks pregnant - has anyone else experienced this? I have to sleep on my back now and it's sooooo not comfy - have also been visiting the bathroom at least 5 times per night!!!

I had the bathroom busines, went up to hourly trips by the end. I slept on my side tho, I couldn't sleep on my back, and you aren't actually supposed to as you get bigger as the weight can lean on a blood vessel, making you faint.
What is stoppign you laying on your sides? Would a big pillow help?

ChaCha - Good practice eh!

The going to the toilet thing usually eases in the middle part of pregnancy. The discomfort could be mild SPD? Does it actually hurt to lie on your side?

God I am having a bit of this I can only sleep on my side. If i lie on my back it feels like my boobs are going to suffocate me.

Toothache - it doesn't cause me pain, just makes me feel terribly sick/dizzy - feel like i'll just puke there and then on my side.

Yes Cha cha, exactly the same. I just toss & turn all night. I'm 13 weeks now and I seem to be going to the toilet every 5 minutes! I used to sleep on my stomach and that's a big no no at the moment. So I have to sleep on my side which I find so uncomfortable.

Apparently if you sleep with a pillow between your legs and one just under your tummy, that seems to help. I have tried the one pillow under the tummy and that helped a bit. But only sometimes!

Bamik - thanks. I tried the pillow over tummy this afternoon and had a good 3 hour sleep - seemed to serve its purpose even if temporarily. Bamik which ante-natal club are you on? When is your due date? Are you with us on the November thread?

Why cant you sleep on your front? I slept on mine until about 18-19weeks when it started to get in the way. Even then, I slept on my front with one leg raised bent on a pillow to ease the pressure on my belly. Doesnt that work?

Hi Laura - it just makes me sick/dizzy. I have tried a pillow on tummy today and has worked.

Cha Cha, I'm really please that it worked!

I'm new around here so not in any of the antenatal clubs or in the November Club. I'm gonna have a quick hunt around to see if I can find them
