Leg cramps- any tips?

With DD I got nightly cramps in my legs...if I was really lucky both my left calf and my right calf would cramp at the same time! The cramps have now started again at 27wks pg.

Are there any wonder foods for avoiding them? I am not as fit as I used to be but active and keep well hydrated including through the night. I am having a banana a day to add to my potassium levels but I think I need to turn into an ape and eat far more bananas. The SPD means my sleeping positions are fairly limited so I'm not sure what else to do.

Do you have any tried and tested ways of avoiding the leg cramps?

Many thanks.

Hi

I started a thread like this last week, people also said bananas and milk - I have had a banana milkshake - (a banana or two blended into milk) close to bedtime every night since and my cramps haven't really returned... I did have a slight cramp feeling yesterday but it didn't develope into anything.

I also have SPD so I know what you are saying about sleeping positions!

SPD makes it a bit difficult to stretch your legs too but I have tried to do that before bed without stretching to far and risking hurting myself!

Standing on the cramped leg (I had SPD, but cramps made me desperate enough to do this!). I swear, it works. Nothing else did for me - the weight resets the muscle, apparently. It's very counter-intuitive, I know, but works like a charm.
