Full term and baby's head not engaged - help!!

I am 40+1 and saw the MW today who said that my baby's head is still not engaged. I was hoping to have a sweep but she said she can't do it as its head is 'high and free' and it's in a posterior position. She said it just wasn't ready to come out yet and will book me in for an induction at 42 weeks, although I am seeing her at 41+2 so really hope it's engaged by then!

Is there anything I can do to get it to drop down?? Please let me know what worked for you!

Here's what I read in the NCT booklet thingy-
To encourage the baby to engage, sit with your back straight, legs apart & leaning forward. Try to adopt this as main sitting position. Also, sleep on your left side with your right leg bent over the left leg.

Also, relax your belly muscles and allow your stomach to 'dangle out'

I haven't tried this so I don't know if it works but i hope it works for you.

If its reassuring when saw the MW with my DD on Tuesday, not enganged, by Friday she was engaged and she was born next Tuesday. It can happen very quickly when things get going.

Best of luck.
