  1. ALCOHOL!!! When, how much and links to decent evidence re FAS and limits and harm to foetus etc. Am avoiding it for next 8 weeks but want to have an informed opinion re how much is ok after that. Any links to any unbiased well conducted scientific studies would be welcome.

  1. Exercise, can I do upper body weight training? Can I carry on running? Is cycling OK? When? Only after 1st 12 weeks or can I swim before this point?

  1. First day of LMP was 04/08/08 how pg does this make me?

  1. Horrible birth last time am truly terrified already and cannot even think about labour, how can I deal with this, just writing this is making me want to cry!

  1. sorry no links, i am an avoider whilst pg. advice is none at the mo.

  1. if you have always been a gym person then just continue. running & cycling are fine, watch your tummy though with other things. ask at gym

  1. Google pg counter or count forward the days and weeks until today from lmp.

  1. You could try hypnobirthing; 2nd labours are far better IMO. What happened wrong last tinme?

I would not drink in the very early stages as the embryo is very vulnerable then. Also, stay well away from chemicals and tobacco smoke, especially garden pesticides, hairspray etc, heating food in plastic containers etc. There is now proof that these chemicals can actually affect the future fertility of your unborn child.

Later in preg I don't think 1-2 units of alcohol per week does much harm.

I personally am not sure about running as I just did crosstraining and step with DS, then had 2 miscarriages where I'd run regularly, so it might be bad for some people..

With the worrying, remember hormones are crazy at this stage, and you actually worry more about the birth now than as it approaches. It is easier second time round, and I would heartily recommend mobile epidural...

good luck! Stay on mumsnet!

Is crosstraining ok then? I was worried about the twisty motion. Actually prefer the crosstranier to the treadmill.

Am going to abstain from booze for first 12 weeks but If it's ok after that would like to have a few glasses of wine now and again. I find the alcohol abstinenec bit of preg extremely hard, I get so bored going out just drinking fizzy water, anyway have dd2 so won't be going out all that much anyway.

last labour 26 hours long, ventoux delivery dds heart rate dropped dangerously during labour and I heamhorraged afterwards. Also the pain of the contractions sent me into shock and they actually stopped cos I thought we were both going to die. Feel sick just writing about it.
