Hi boughts (sp?) of insommnia are incredibly common in pregnancy unfortunately and you may find you swing from sleeping for more than you would normally expect some nights to half as much as you need others. Im 23+3 and sunday night slept like a log for 9 hours last night i was still tryign to drop off at 2am and up with my youngest at 6am .. feeling great today NOT!
So sorry that doesnt help much just to say its normal so dont stress you will get some sleep eventually!

I'm the same if it's any consolation - I'm 6+4 and struggling to get a decent nights sleep for the past five nights. It's driving me mad as I keep thinking I should be getting MORE rest and not less at this stage!

I'm also worrying about being sick which is making me more awake which then makes me more tired the next day which makes me feel more sick.

Oh, the joys of the irrational pregnant mind ...

sorry for my ignorance but what does 6+4 or 23+3 mean? is it 6 weeks and 4 days? I'm about 6 weeks pregnant for the first time and trying to get my ahead around acronyms on mumsnet

that's right - 6+4 mean 6 weeks and 4 days. It seems bizzare to be counting in days rather than weeks but every day is a day closer to the magic 12 weeks I guess ...

Oh dear, I have that too. It's horrible, isn't it? Apparently it's the hormones making you a lighter sleeper than normal. It's so annoying when you're exhausted in the day and desperate for more rest!

I am the same. I have an 8 month old poor sleeper and before I got pregnant I could sleep anywhere as I am always sleep deprived. But since being pregnant, I have real trouble sleeping and I am so tired. I feel like crap and WANT to sleep but can't and when I do, DD wakes up!!

I had no sleeping problems during the first trimester - now in my 2nd I find I do! Im usually lying awake till 2.30am - watch DH sleep and feel envious! How do people cope with the lack of sleep during the day? I'm dragging my feet while trying to keep off the caffeine.

It your 'ooormones! Insomnia is a bugger, and so are the very vivid dreams/nightmares you'll end up having. I had a couple of bouts of poor sleep in my first and early second trimester, and now at 38+6 I haven't had a proper night of sleep for at least two weeks, uhhhg.
