I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and have noticed over the last day that I have a sweet smelling discharge. Not sore so dont think it is infection. Any ideas ? Concerned that when I googled it, all I could find was diabetes which I dont have. Could it be a show type of a thing?

dont they say that waters are sweet smelling? Dont want to worry you, maybe you should give your MW a call to check?

The amniotic fluid smells very sweet, put a pad on, if it is wet in an hour go to the labour ward (with the pad), they can check it to see if it is your waters.

It is very common for them to leak and re-seal themselves, but it is imperative that you get it checked as if it is your waters, infection is a risk.

Good luck

What consistency? If watery, could be leaking amniotic fluid. If more mucousy could be beginnings of a show.

Thanks for replies. A bit mucousy but not excessively Portand Lemon. With my first labour my waters broke quite dramatically so guess I had not thought that it could be that. Yikes! Somehow does not seem enough to be waters though.

You can get a slow leak of waters (I know what you mean, I had a huge whooshy gush all over the place first time too )

It can leak out very slowly.

Do you feel like anything is happening?

i have found with both pregnancies that my discharge dramatically increased in the weeks leading up to the birth (sorry for TMI )

it was also heavier when walking/exercising. my m/w said this was normal.
