Travel system which fits into a BMW 1 series boot?

Have started thinking about buying a travel system for my first child due in Dec but struggling to find anything other than M&P luna which will fit into my tiny boot - any advice/suggestions?

We have a mini-cooper and ended up going for a Quinny Buzz as chassis and seat managed to fit in our boot if we took the wheels off. That said, while I loved it for the first six months, I got v fed up with it after 1 year (as front wheel got v sticky) and our 2 year old no longer fits in it, so wouldnt really recommend it.Think the Aria buggy, Quinny Zapp and Petit Zia would fit into a mini boot at all, if any of those are any good for you?

I have a Mini and have a Quinny Zapp. Very compact and lightweight but the downside is that it's prone to tipping (have had the car and the Zapp for about a year and DD now a sturdy but wriggly 2-year old!), but it was fine when she was smaller.

I had a 2nd hand (SIL's) travel system with DS and found it a complete faff to fold up etc, so mainly kept it fully assembled and went for walks from home rather than putting it in and out of the car. DS went into a basic Mothercare folding buggy from about 3 months.

Before we got the Mini, when I first had DD we DD got a Mothercare 'from birth' buggy. Still have it in our other car. I woudl recommend one of these as my preferred choice but I don't know if there are any 'compact' versions on the market.

Unless you're going to do a lot of travelling in the car with your 0-3 month old I really don't get the point of travel systems as I don't think you'll ever get the real moneysworth out of them (you can tell I'm from West Wales!). The cost of the Mothercare buggy and our Britax car seat (both bought on sales at Mothercare and ToysRus respectively) was about £100 which is loads cheaper than any travel system, and meant that I didn't feel bad about splashing £140 on the Zapp later on.

I don't know if you can get a travel system that works with the Zapp, but if you're still set on a travel system, I would get this as your DC can go into the Zapp itself at 3 or 4 months and you can still use the car seat until age 9 mo or whenever they grow out of it.

Great, thanks for your advice - spent all day going round every pram shop in Manchester on saturday trying out prams of all shapes and sizes and have come to the conclusion that some compromises will have to be made. Current favourite is the Buzz though, although found it nigh on impossible/painful to collapse, but have been told it is easier without the fat belly....and with some practice?!

Hmm, it does get easier to collapse the Buzz with practice though I have to admit for the first 2 months I left it to DH to do it!

Bugaboo Chameleon could have been built for the 1 series; it fits in the boot like a glove!

Have you looked at the graco fusio?

We have a corsa with a tiny boot, and this was perfect, we even got the nice lady in the shop to try it in the boot, and it fits better than the maclaren stroller we are using at the moment for our 2.9 year old.

We tried our DS in it, and it isnt much harder to push with him in it either so hopefully will be using it for a long time.

We have just brought a new travel system, not sure if any good for you, but it is a Mothercare Extreme, is a 3 wheeler, folds down really well and the wheels come off too

I had a BMW 1 series when DS1 was born and bought a Silver Cross travel system - fitted absolutely fine into the boot. Its lasted well - planning on using it for baby no3 due in 3 months (although now have a renault scenic 7 seater due to expanding family.... miss my 1 series dreadfully!!)

Did you go to lesters nursery in Manchester? We got our travel system from there- the staff were really good at pointing us in the right direction. We also had a practise getting it in the car before ordering. We had a fiesta- also a small boot (got a different car now though) and we went for the bugaboo. However although we could get the pram in- not much else could fit- shopping bags etc. Just something to consider if. X
