Pram recommendations

Hi all

Has anyone got any good pram recommendations. I've watched so many review videos and read up on a lot of Prams but it's hard to know which reviews are genuine.

My shortlist at the moment includes the mamas and papas strada, bugaboo fox 2 and bugaboo chameleon 3.

Has anyone actually used any of these?

I would recommend putting the name of the buggies in the title and maybe posting on Products > Pushchairs :)

Depends what you want from one, where you live etc

What I love about mine might be unimportant to you! I hated our Cossato Giggle 2 for instance but a family member loves theirs

My only advice would be to buy second hand because you'll probably end up wanting to change it after a few months. The price of brand new prams is outrageous and a lot will end up on eBay or marketplace in near perfect condition.

I had a Bebecar Stylo Class second time round. It’s absolutely beautiful and I got so many compliments but it’s such a faff 🤣. And massive ! I’m pregnant with my third and I’m only keeping it because it was so bloody expensive !!

So my advice would be definitely choose practicality over looks!

I’d advise walking round your local area and seeing what prams other people have - it really depends on the lifestyle/terrain where you are. Eg I live in London and everyone near me has a bugaboo bee or a babyzen yoyo because it’s urban and people need lightweight prams that fit in Victorian terrace hallways and on public transport. My sister lives rurally and she has a bigger pram (nuna) that’s great off-road and can be folded easily for the car boot.

Mine is second hand (£100) as I wanted all along. Somebody I know has just paid over £1,000!

We love our bugaboo fox but it's friggin huge. We have a vw Tiguan and the bassinet had to go on the back seat as the boot is filled with the pram base. It's easier now it's in the push chair mode, all folds in nicely. Fits perfectly. I'd hate to have a smaller car.

It manoeuvres really well, turns on a dime, big wheels (we live in the sticks and do a lot of country/muddy/off road walks and it's perfect for that. It's not so hot nipping round little roads or in small shops.

So totally depends where you live and what you plan do with it

We have a Mamas and Papas Occaro and it is well loved. Is the Strada new?

Things I like:

  • Big basket
  • Can fold with the seat on (once you're past the carry cot stage)
  • lasting well into toddlerhood
  • M&P foot muff bought separately is so pretty 😍
  • Covers rough terrain (canal paths) with ease

Things I'd change:
  • access to the basket is tight with the carry cot on.
  • a break on the handle rather than a push up/down toe one
  • It's a bit heavy so not recommended if you have stairs at your front door

I have a cosatto giggle quad, the design is gorgeous and it’s easy to put up and down, everything clips on and off easily, parent and world facing.
I had a mothercare one with my first and it was heavy and badly made so chuffed to have a good one this time

I've had a Maxi Cosi Loola Up, which was absolutely fantastic, but not made any more. Would defo have one of those again. If I was in the market for another from birth pushchair, I'd defo look at Maxi Cosi again.

Also a Mutsy Evo, which was good for the first couple of years, but then the seat got too small. Also always felt DS2 was sliding forwards out of it and dangling by his crotch, and the harness size was useless.

Now have a Britax B-Agile which I love. Fantastic quick fold and really easy to use, but doesn't have a parent facing mode so I wouldn't want it for little ones.

Thanks everyone.

I have quite a large car boot so not too concerned over the size. Also live in north Wales so a bit of town use but lots of country walks which is why I looked to the fox with the bigger wheels. I will consider all the tips people mentioned Smile

You definitely want big wheels for off road, but also look at air tyres and suspension.

I am also not a fan of the bucket seats a lot of high end pushchairs have - I like to be able to lie them flat when they sleep, even when they're out of the carrycot.

^^ to the lie flat seat which the Occaro (and the Strada?) have. Was a winner when we switched from carry cot to seat around 4 months because DD screamed when she couldn't see out the carry cot as we trundled about 🙈

I absolutely love our bugaboo cam! Baby slept really well in the carrycot for day time naps (just used to leave it up in the hall saved having a Moses basket or anything else downstairs!) big basket underneath and we had a cybex car seat with adapters that was really handy for quick run into the shops and school run. As a PP said def try second hand, I got my cam hardly used on marketplace for £130! I also have a bugaboo ant as in non-covid times we travel abroad often to DH family and I love that too!

We have just bought the strada I absolutely love it! Don't think it would be good for country walks though the wheels are quite small
