Morning all,

Am just coming up to 33 weeks and my bump is huge, just as it was with my first baby. I have been putting bio oil on every day (I already have stretch marks, so not overly bothered about those) but my god with each day I get bigger the itching on my bump is terrible!

I don't have a rash or anything like that, it's just the skin is stretching I think, anyone got any better suggestions than the bio oil to calm the itching?

Thanks xx

Have you had a blood check to rule out obstetric cholestasis? I had awful itching in my first, it wasn't OC but ended up taking piriton every night to help me sleep. Worth a check with your midwife if you've not done so already.

Thanks @Disappointedkoala, I had considered it but as it was only my bump and not hands or feet I thought I was probably safe? I'll ask the midwife when I see her. Piriton is a great shout, thank you.

Definately get it checked. I had OC in my last pregnancy. The only place I ever itched was my bump. As I have eczema I'd assumed it was that it skin stretching but no. And of they ask you to fast for the blood test, don't. That lowers your bile acids.

I was very itchy during one of my pregnancies. I tested negative for obstetric cholestasis. The problem was sorted with a daily Piriton, and Aveeno bath powder and body lotion were also very effective. I had to order the colloidal oatmeal powder from the pharmacy.

Aveeno skin relief cream is really good to soothe it when it itches - also use Burt’s Bee’s Mama Bee bump butter every day which seems to keep it at bay most of the time

Thank you all, I'll be off Boots today for some Aveeno!
