Hi,

I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my first baby and not coping well with how ill im feeling.
I'm constantly tired in work from the moment I get to work, feel light headed and nauseasias constantly too.
I haven't told anyone apart from my partner that I'm pregnant but really struggling with work life.
Is anyone the same, and how have you coped with feeling sick?
I'm hoping it gets better as I'm really not enjoying preganncy at the moment, which is difficult and feel my friends who have got kids really enjoyed their pregnancy.
Thank you for your answers in advance :)

Hi OP. I'm on my third pregnancy. I struggled through the first 2 bit this time was much worse and I could barely function. I eventually went to the doctors and got medication. This does help with the nausea but not the tiredness. Infact it makes the tiredness worse, but it's worth it to feel less sick. Mine started to ease off around 15 weeks, which I didn't think it would because it didn't with my last two.
Don't suffer in silence. You manky need to push the doctor for medication. Apparently they don't like giving it out 🙄. I had no trouble. Both doctors I saw were fantastic and had me on medication that day (I had to try 3 different kinds).

My gp just signed me off for four weeks. Not what I was expecting. Not what I was trying to get, but what he offered. He said he couldn't take the sickness off my plate, but could take the work, so that's what he's done.

Also have to go for some blood tests.

They can help with the sicknesses. The first tablet they can try is Cyclizine. If that doesn't work there are others. Perhaps ask for another doctor.
Are you managing to keep food down and fluids down?

Sorry that's how I felt too. Felt so awful I just cried some days.

Anti sickness medication helped a bit. And it did pass by about 13/14 weeks and then I loved pregnancy. X

Yes, I keep food and fluids down but I'm finding it a struggle with no appetite at all, I've gone off all foods and even struggle to force myself to drink water.
I'm seeing my midwife today so will ask her about the anti sickness tablets today.
I think I could cope more with the tiredness if I didn't feel so ill, so hopefully she will be able to prescribe me some today 🤞

fingers crossed it calms down by then too 🤞
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this.
I've cried endless of times as I just don't feel myself at all. I find myself sitting in the toilets at work to have 5 minutes to myself.
Its probably even harder as I don't want to tell anyone till I have my scan, as I feel work would probably be understanding if they knew.
Hopefully my midwife can sort me out with some anti sickness tablets today x

Bless you OP, early pregnancy is hard! I remember feeling exhausted and sick all the time (like from the moment I got up until I went to bed again). In terms of food and drink, try and find whatever it is that you fancy and just go with that - for me it was frazzles and flat, cold, diet coke (caffeine free). I really couldn't stomach most fruit and vegetables or meat. I started off feeling really guilty about my poor diet until I realised that baby is so tiny that they will get all that they need from the pregnancy vitamins (timing these correctly helped me loads, not to be taken on an empty stomach). After 12 weeks the nausea really calmed down and I was able to eat a normal, balanced diet again.

Good idea to talk to your midwife about anti-nausea meds if things are really bad for you too.

Midwifes are usually a bit crap with this type of thing IME. If she doesn't give you anything go to a different doctor.

I’m just glad that I can work from home. Feel sick and sleep all day long, eating far less than usual.
