Group B Strep recurring

Hello,

Tested positive for Group B Strep at appointment a few weeks ago. Took antibiotics as prescribed. Had a call today to say that it's back again. Midwife said that this was unusual and of course I am now worrying!! Has anyone had a recurring case like this?

Thank you

A relative, not pregnancy related, has recurring strep B infections. The usual antibiotics didn’t work and eventually found that only one worked which has to be given by IV. I can’t remember the name, sorry.

Thanks @perfumeistooexpensive

I know I'll get the IV drip when I'm in labour so hopefully that'll do it if antibiotics don't clear it up in advance. Only 33 weeks so just don't want to be on antibiotics until she arrives!

Group b strep can come and go so quickly. I had it during pregnancy I think I was given a result around 35 weeks, doctor prescribed antibiotics but the midwife advised me not to take them as it could clear up then develop again a few days later. Instead I went straight into hospital once my waters broke and given the drip to prevent infection to baby

Thanks @Upsydaisyy that actually makes me feel a very reassured. I didn't have a Group B Strep reading in my first pregnancy so this is all new territory for me!

I didn't even get given antibiotics for mine, OP, and they've not offered to re-test to see if it's gone either! I'm doing a private test at 32 weeks to see if it's cleared so I can have a homebirth. If not it's just an IV drip in labour.
