First time mum and just wondering when I should have everything ready for? Have bought all the baby essentials, have the nursery ready, have my hospital bag packed etc?? I realise the nursery won't be slept in for the first 6 months but still want it all sorted and nice ready for babies arrival! Xx

Ftm too! I bought things from about 18 weeks onwards, still buying bits now (39 weeks) but got all the necessities. I had hospital bag packed from 30 weeks and nursery done by about 36 weeks. Will need to buy more clothes/nappies once baby is born and I know what size to get.

FTM. We started on the nursery at 20 weeks. Got the room done up (patterned wallpaper was a nightmare for DH but it looks great😂) and just bought big things like cotbed, Moses basket/travel cot, baby swing, etc. Still got a bit to go but I've been buying things that's on sale or a good price with the current situation. We're looking at changing units next and then pick up bits and bobs along the way 😊 I'm trying to get the nursery done by the time I reach 35 weeks and then pack a hospital bag by 33 weeks so it's there and ready. I have been known to organise stuff really early by friends though haha

I’ve just had a message off my cousin telling me (I’m 24 weeks) to get my hospital bag ready! She did have her twins @28 weeks so I assume this is the reason for her premature packing text! I thibk I’ll probably get it ready around 30 weeks slowly and ensure it’s all done by about 34 just because I’m at risk of premature labour (cervix issues).. dd will be sharing her room with the new baby girl so we don’t really have much in way of a nursery to do but I aim to have the crib up around 34 too x

Packed hospital bag at 34 weeks.
Bought the final few things around then.
Didn't do nursery until DS was 9 months as he was in our room.

Better to be early than late!

Hospital bag packing tip - get all your stuff ready, and lay it out on the bed. Ask your birth partner to pack it in the bag for you, so they know where everything is. They’re probably going to be the one fishing stuff out while you’re busy, so it’s important they know!!

Bags with some pockets are great so you can access the most important stuff in a hurry if needed X

Expecting DD2 in middle of August. Have got everything from DD1 (now 3) but its all in the loft. Really need to have a sort out! Haven't even got a nursery for her as we were supposed to do an extension and then covid hit!

With DD1 at this point her room was all ready, drawers & wardrobe filled with everything & hospital bag packed.

I actually feel more prepared though, as know what to expect (to an extent). All they really need at first is somewhere to sleep, nappies and milk. Everything else can sort of fall into place later (I hope!)
