Anyone else due 17th Oct? Scared now...

Two weeks to go and I'm very nervous now and having lots of birth anxiety nightmares including one where when I start giving birth it turns out that the baby is, in fact,a tapeworm!
Anyone else having crazy dreams?

Hi foosfan I am due 15th Oct haven't dreamt about birth at all which is weird really as it is occupying most of my waking thoughts!

There is an Oct ante-natal thread and also there is one for first timers due in Oct who were a bit late to join the other thread and wanted a chat, both in the antental section if you fancy it.

Foosfan, I'm due tomorrow and, if it helps, have gone beyond the nerves stage now to the wanting to go back to normal (whatever normal turns out to be!). I was quite nervy a couple of weeks ago but just want to crack on with it now - so hopefully the same will happen to you in a couple of weeks' time!

Best of luck!!

Thanks kittiwake will check those threads out.
19lbs...ouch!
On GMTV yesterday there was some poor cow that had just had a baby that was something ridiculous like 16lbs.
Jesus.
Now that probably stung a bit!

I lie it was 14lbs just looked it up.
She delivered naturally with no drugs.
Seriously, was the woman insane?!

Ha! LackingNicknameInspiration...like that!
Takes ages to write though.
I feel ready to be honest, spent the last few weeks at work moaning that I didnt have time to do anything and now Ive finished work and brought everything and cleaned Im bored!!
I even brought a cookery book with a plan to make cakes and jam and stuff but I just cant motivate myself to do it.
Much too lazy!
Could motivate myself to eat it though, strange that...

A message of hope for you foosfan, if it does turn out to be the 17th - our dd2 was born October 17th last year, and it was a fab birth.
Got to hospital 5am, dd2 born within an hour.
All back home in time for lunch.

So may the 17th be lucky for you too (and good luck to everyone else of course!)

foosfan, can relate to that! I finished work two weeks ago, had so much planned to do and just cannot be BOTHERED now!!

I'll doubtless regret that in a couple of weeks time!

Speaking of drugs, what actually WORKS.
I'm not convinced of the gas and air may need a bigger hit!
Whats pethadine like, anyone know?

OP posts:

fawkeoff · 28/09/2007 16:21

i had pethidine with dd(had her first so that might be why ds was easier) and i seriously felt steaming and i still took the gas and air....i was induced with her so the labour was totally differant, and after 7 hours i decided for an epidural....they are FAB

Report
foosfan · 28/09/2007 16:28

In the hospital where Im going they are low risk only so epidurals not an option as they cant do them.
I do have a choice to go to where they do but according to friends its not such a nice unit so I decided to opt for local.
Hope Ive made the right choice.

i only had an epidural purely because of being induced...it wasn't a nice experience at alland the pain was not bearable...but every birth is differant.i was so glad iwent on the gas and air with ds as i was very alert after i gave birth to him, whereas i felt like ihad drunk a bottle of vodka and been hit by a bus after dd.i would reccomend going on the g&a for as long as possible because its only the contractions that are painful....and your too busy focusing on pushing at the end anyway.

Hi foosfan

I am also due on 17th October!

No weird dreams this time round, but I do remember having similarly weird dreams with my first pregnancy where I gave birth to a lizard. You'll be pleased to here that my 5 year old was born completely normal - not so much as a scale anywhere.

foosfan · 29/09/2007 16:16

A lizard!
Puts me in mind of that alien programme years ago think it was called "V" remember that?

Hi Foosan - I'm also due on the 17th Oct and also having wierd dreams, last night I dreamt the baby had been snatched out of the cot by a squirrel who had climbed in thru' the bedroom window

Also sleeping really badly...woke up at 3am this morning, ate some biscuits, watched some TV, played on the internet and then went back to bed at 7am. Slept for a couple of hours, woke up again after dreaming I had imagined the whole pregnancy and wasn't pregnant at all.

Think I'm starting to lose the plot....
